I disagree strongly with the Biden administration’s push to keep schools open. This is a big mistake.

The political need to try and convey that we can keep schools open will run into the indisputable fact that there aren’t teachers/staff in the building due to covid, and/or students are out sick en masse due to covid.

Some schools are going remote for a couple of weeks, but there’s no intention to go remote for the school year. NYC schools will probably go remote individually, rather than as an entire system. Some schools in the DOE are seeing massive absences while others are doing far better. There are some schools that have under 20% attending, but the overall attendance is around 71%.
