Screw Vlaams Belang and the panzers they rode in on. This weekend I’m firing up the bbq and doing beer and brats with the guys from work, a buddy from college, and the nice lesbian couple from across the street. We’re gonna have ourselves a big ol’ American all-inclusive time, and there’s not a goddamn thing the fascists or the jihadis can do about it. Heck, maybe we’ll watch some baseball and air differing but polite political views. I’ll insult Obama, they’ll insult Bush, and at the end of the evening everyone makes sure people are still able to drive home safely. The collective moderateness is going to blow your little pinheads clear off. I do draw the line with one thing, though: no veggie burger shall ever touch my grill. That’s just common sense.

I wish I lived in that kind of environment. I go to all sorts of parties/barbecues/get-togethers, but jovial all-inclusiveness is never on the menu. Sometimes, to test the waters, I’ll make some snarky “counter-intuitive” joke about with an inherent ciriticism of Obama or any number of far-left canards — and the room will fall silent, accompanied by cold stares. There is just no tolerance for any non-far-left viewpoint, even as a joke. Everything is happy and hunky-dory, but there is a scary Brave New World-ish regimentation to the weltanschauung here in zombieland.
