re: #53 Killgore Trout

I was a very vocal opponent of the Tea Party back when LGF was a “wightwing”, many people were very unhappy about it. It’s important to speak up against radicals and people advocating violence. It’s especially important to speak up when people want this kept quiet and not discussed.

It’s also important to realize the relative importance of things.

OWS is a politically powerless group at this point; at its origin, it was not mainly radicals, and the concerns expressed— mostly about the rising wealth disparity— were real concerns, unlike the fake, made-up concerns of the Tea Party.

The Tea Party, and the conspiracy theories that permeate it, has become entrenched in GOP politics; the radicals are elected officials. To pay as much attention to OWS at this point compared to the bizarre conspiracy theories that are being touted by GOP elected officials— not random anarchists in a park, but people with actual power— in order to block the nomination of Hagel is nutty.

Lots of people other than you were able to criticize OWS without falling into the creepy territory you trod, too. I’d think you’d be more trying to live down that time period, like accusing other posters of supporting rape and violence while you nearly simultaneously declared a video of two women being assaulted to be awesome.
