Fruitcake is the goyische version of matzo balls.
Nobody eats them; nobody can quite explain why people keep making them. But it’s somehow important they be there when you take photos of your holiday meal.
There are two fruitcakes that I love— Harry & David’s and Claxton’s. Mom bought Clayton bricks, froze them and then sliced them thin and topped with real whipped cream or a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream.
