OT but have to rant: My workplace had a change of ownership last year and the new owners have been busily scaling back benefits and perks. If you talk to anyone who was there under the old regime, they’ll tell you how much they miss it.

So far most of the changes have ranged anywhere from “tolerable” to “mildly frustrating.”

Then last month they let us all know that, effective the first of the year, they were cutting an ENTIRE WEEK off our usual annual allotment of paid days off.

Care to guess how most of us reacted to that?

Yeah, we’re totally thrilled. //

Of course the higher ups will no doubt keep all their vacation time.

That’s what kills me about teachers here in NJ who support Christie’s union busting plan.

Unions admittedly have their problems. They’re not perfect. But who do these people think are going to have their backs? The public? The state government? Everyone wants the best education for their kids, but they also want it to be free.

What’s happening to you, Dragonfire, is why unions are still a necessity in many cases. At the end of the day, if most companies would get away with slave labor, they’d do it in a heartbeat.
