First look: Cate Blanchett as Phyllis Schlafly in ‘Mrs. America’ on FX

The fight for passage of the ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) will be the subject of the forthcoming FX limited series “Mrs. America.”

Oscar winner Cate Blanchett makes her American TV series debut as Phyllis Schlafly, who led the backlash against the proposed constitutional amendment.

Through the eyes of Schlafly and feminists such as Gloria Steinem (Rose Byrne), Bella Abzug (Margo Martindale) and Betty Friedan (Tracey Ullman), the series explores how this political battleground gave rise to the Moral Majority.
The series co-stars Emmy winner Uzo Aduba (“Orange Is the New Black”), Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games”) and John Slattery (“Mad Men”).
