I am also worried that everyone is turning everything into conspiracy theories. Republicans are greedy bastards, and they will overstep their bounds if given the chance. The people who pushed the rule changes are those being investigated.

The GOP rank-and-file is incredibly dysfunctional and easily will overstep their bounds over and over again.

Trump, who thrives on publicity stunts and pitting people against each other, is in a rather advantageous position. He knows the media will credit him carte blanche if the GOP caves to voter objections.
