Might I suggest this be reworded to something that doesn’t sound confusingly like a euphemism for “died”? Like maybe “who’ve parted company from us” or “who’ve broken off from our community” or “who’ve quarreled with us”? Or something else that mildly rebukes the direction they chose to take, without being hostile.
(“Schismatics” might be a wee bit over-the-top…)

It now reads: “Friends and former friends who’ve parted company with us, but are still in need of prayer”.
