Seriously, this guy in your unit that you already don’t like because he’s not drinking beer and eating BBQ with you and the others is making noises about how he intends to desert, how he may even go and join the Taliban…and you don’t think that significant enough to inform anybody higher up the chain of command? You don’t keep a watch on him to stop him from trying to desert? Sounds to me like these fuckers came up with a cover story and then looked for the evidence to fit it.
