The $1000 fine is a joke, the penalty should be the same as deliberate election fraud depriving millions of voters of their franchise rights. The penalty should include the entire cost of running the election and decades in jail.
Faithless electors are very rare in American politics, that said, could not Washington add a jail sentence for that?
