Let’s also say how fucking STUPID a balanced budget amendment is.

No borrowing would mean we can’t be the world’s reserve currency anymore. Also… how the fuck would we have ever built the transcontinental railroad, or won WWII, without borrowing? How could anybody you know ever buy a house (or even cars FFS) or send their kids to college if borrowing was seen as fiscally wrong? How would companies get off the ground? How would there be any capital investments in ANYTHING?

You know, I never thought about it like that. I mean obviously a balanced budget is an understandable goal but you’re 100% right.
