So, even assuming that Trump is still around in 2020, what are the Republicans going to do? Especially as his Permanent Campaign is likely to (naturally) still be there to push his name for primaries? Read him out of the Party? Back a rival candidate? Deny him the nomination? Yeah, The Yam is loathed by the majority of the populace, but unless said majority gets off their collective asses and gets out to put that loathing into action and vote, “approval ratings” don’t mean diddly. Or squat, either.

The nomination isn’t the election. In 2020, he is very unlikely to face a Democratic nominee as disliked as he is.
