Dark’s somewhat right, defeat can knock sense (even temporarily) into ideologues heads. But it’s also partly that the GOP right now is in a very untenable position. They’re not going to get an extension of the top rates, because Obama will veto it. And they’re the ones who will lose the most if we go over the cliff because they refused to deal.
