I think you’re right. I think she was teh right candidate but I do think you’re right. She was a perfect foil for him. Fortunately, I don’t see him having the same benefit in 2020.

It is possible that Biden may have defeated Trump if he had entered the fray but maybe not. He didn’t have Hillary’s liabilities, nor did he have her assets. The media would not have focused on his emails, but they still would have treated Trump with kid gloves. It would have been an entirely different campaign — and voters may still have gone with the “outsider”. Of course, nobody would have been telling a defeated Biden that he should shut up and go away.
