I seem to remember a story from one of my middle-school readers, about an Eskimo kid (this was before “Eskimo” came to be considered politically incorrect) who killed a polar bear that was threatening his village by coiling sharpened strips of springy whalebone into hollowed-out hunks of frozen whale blubber, and feeding these nasty little bombs to the polar bear, which subsequently died of a perforated intestine.

Also an A.E. Van Voght sci-fi story where some dire beasty was ravaging colonists- similar technique- mebbe the colonist was Inuit?
