Don’t you just love it when we make international news like this?

It is kind of interesting to see some shootings getting more attention than others.
Not making international news: 2 Dead, 15 Wounded In Shootings Since Friday

The weekend’s first fatal shooting happened about 9:15 p.m. Friday in the West Side Austin neighborhood. A 21-year-old man was shot several times through a glass window while he was inside a Popeyes Chicken and Biscuits restaurant in the 5500 block of West North Avenue, police said.

Marshall D. Fields-Hall, of the 1500 block of North Luna Avenue, was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County within the hour, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

About 15 minutes after that attack, a separate fatal shooting claimed the life of a 19-year-old man in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood.

Jovantay Alexander, of the 1800 block of East 72nd Street, was found dead near 54th and Laflin streets, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He had been shot in the face.

No one has been arrested in connection with either slaying as of early Sunday, police said.

Weekend shootings throughout Chicago left 12 other people wounded.

The most recent attack happened about 4:55 a.m. in the 300 block of East 75th Street, in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side. A female driving a silver, older-model Lexus pulled up alongside a 28-year-old man, and her male passenger started shooting before they fled. The man was shot in the hand and is in good condition at Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Centers.

I can think of a bunch of reasons; Chicago gun crime is commonplace, most of the victims and perpetrators are probably poor and black, etc. Also the Chicago shootings (and those like them) lack the easy solution of banning a certain type of weapon or closing the gun show loophole.
