The Martian was a total geek movie in the best sense. It was a world where the problems that needed to be solved were pretty much just engineering problems. And the engineers solved them, though not always on the first try. It was a bunch of really smart people working on an excruciatingly hard problem.

I also liked the scene when an LOTR reference was made, the only one not in on the joke was the public relations person. Like I said, a total geek movie.
