I hear there’s good property opportunities in Florida. Oh wait, a 5-10 foot sea level rise means that… most urban areas in Florida are disappeared.

That right there is why the GOP doesn’t believe in global warming and climate change.

They think they win because they don’t have to worry about what happens to the urban and coastal areas when they get swamped, even though that’s where majority of Americans live, the bulk of American wealth is concentrated, and economic output is concentrated.

They also ignore the costs that aren’t directly visible by the lost ports and infrastructure. There’s a reason that ports like NY, Philly, Baltimore, Miami, Norfolk, etc., are where they are - natural ports and deep water with access to infrastructure. Sea level rise throws all that away and means we have to address where/how imports/exports arrive and get distributed.
