That’s ridiculous. They’re not even close to the same thing.

The Dan Rather case, IIRC (since I wasn’t here at the time), involved forged documents being used to make a case. With O’Donnell, it’s her own verified words being used to expose her as a batshit insane nutjob, since she’s on video saying them. You can’t compare the two at all.

If she wants to run for office, she should expect to face the media and answer questions. Same goes for Palin or anyone else. Period.
