Basically this should have been a landslide takeover of house and Senate year reminiscent of ‘94, but the Tea party blew it for the GOP.
Enh. It’s still comparable: In 1994, Democrats lost 54 seats in the House and 8 seats in the Senate. In 2010, Democrats lost 60 seats in the House and 6 seats in the Senate. The real difference is that Republicans did not take the Senate this time around.
I am also noting that the gubernatorial races did not pan out as dramatically as in 1994: Only 6 net losses for the Democrats in 2010 as opposed to 10 in 1994. That is, if I counted correctly.
Dunno about state legislatures…
