I’m fairly geeky in that I’ve never bought a (desktop) computer, I’ve always built & upgraded them myself, know how to set up my own home network, etc.

I can connect a new monitor, and that’s about it. OTOH, I’ve written a few million lines of code in a couple different programming languages, and am proficient in several graphic applications. There’s a real chasm of skills, there. A disconnect. Almost sad, really.

But when it comes to hardware, Mr. Heat builds everything. If and when it breaks, my hardware resources consist of refusing to do dishes, cook, or clean, until he fixes it or builds me a new one. I’ve been known to pitch broken shit out the window, for dramatic effect.

It took me a year to figure out how the camera on my cell phone works. I doubt I’ll be jailbreaking anything.
