On a more serious note, the phrase “this is my body” has some interesting implications.

The idea embedded in that phrase is that the self, “me” as in “my”, is different than the “body”.

In our English language this is a holdover, I propose, of the dualism inherent in religious world views (of many kinds.)

A more accurate statement, given what we know today, would be “I am my body”.

Perhaps, but we also say “my soul” (those of us who speak of souls, in any event). Is that the body speaking?
