For some women, it’s not a matter of aesthetics, although that’s part of it, but a matter of comfort. As long as we’re being graphic, some labias are very long and women are uncomfortable sitting. They get pinched or form blisters from rubbing. So there’s that.

OK, if you have a situation where you’re experiencing discomfort, this seems sensible enough. In any field of plastic surgery, there are going to be procedures that are just to correct problems, or improve function. But that’s unusual enough that it’s not fueling all of this. Like I say, I saw the before and after pictures, and none of the ‘befores’ made me think “Oh, that poor gal, that looks uncomfortable”.
