Per the Department of Homeland Security: “An Active Shooter is an individual actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in a confined and populated area; in most cases, active shooters use firearms(s) and there is no pattern or method to their selection of victims.”

Ah okay had not heard that term before.

Though its kind of silly that they only “in most cases use firearm(s)” since this means some random guy whacking people’s heads off with a machete would be an “active shooter” also doesn’t it?
