Neil Tyson is being very anal about Star Wars. IT’S A FREAKING FANTASY! Complaining about the “science” in Star Wars is like complaining about the elves’ accents in LOTR.

Exactly. Star Wars is Lord Of The Rings meets Dune meets Flash Gordon.

It’s a fairy tale. With sci-fi elements thrown in. That’s it. It’s high fantasy in outer space. Even the very beginning of the film, “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” - what’s that but “Once upon a time in a far-off, distant land….”, in other words, the beginning of every fairy tale ever. Almost every one of my Czech students has picked up on that immediately.
