US support for settlement building has always been a hypocritical paradox, in my opinion. The land these settlements are built on is supposed to be the eventual Palestinian state, which the US also supports. I’ve never understood how these two facts can be reconciled. Either the settlements have to stop going up, or admit there’s never going to be a “two-state solution.”

Trying to have it both ways is an unsustainable contradiction.
