It remains disheartening to see that white voters supported Gillespie. White men were 36-63 Northam vs Gillespie; white women 48-51. White women who were college graduates went strongly for Northam; but the men still supported Gillespie. Very sad.

He went for a Trump-style air-raid siren and it worked with white voters. If the minority vote hadn’t turned out as it did, he probably would have pulled off that slim win that the “serious” pundits expected.
