Sounds lovely. I’ve scaled back on Xmas Eve dinner-I no longer haul out the Wedgwood (that has to be washed by hand) or the damask linen (that is a pain to iron) for that. I just use the everyday china and a bright tablecloth and lots of good food and friends and family.
That last bit is always the important part.

I’ve changed the Christmas tradition. It’s now steak. Turkey is for Thanksgiving.

Edit: Not quite the same thing as what you’re describing, but it’s reduced leftovers and dishes.
