Whilst doing my genealogical research, I came across an adopted daughter of grandpa and his first wife in the census records. … The girl was either orphaned and adopted by a doctor then boarding with my grandfather and wife #1, or as we suspect, was born out of wedlock and taken in by the doctor (or was perhaps the doctor’s own daughter?) to be subsequently adopted by my grandparents. Her mother is unknown, but judging from the girl’s appearance in the photos, the mother could have been First Nations.
This is one thing the aforementioned DNA tests are very good at sussing out.
