Depends on the professionalism of the LEs. IIRC the association of Chiefs of Police and the Patrolmen’s Benevolent associations are pro-control. OTOH, after a series of assaults in our small town, the Chief told a convocation of concerned elderly women that they should get handguns of suitable size and take lessons.
