Ah. I guess that’s what we call “sursild” [sour herring]. Haven’t tried it, but I’m pretty sure I will. We also have a slightly notorious dish called “rakrret”/”rakfisk” [fermented trout] which is quite popular during Christmas. Haven’t tried that one either, mainly because it has never been a tradition in my family (same goes for lutefisk). But I will. Lots of people love it and “rakfisklag” [rakfisk parties] before Christmas is quite popular. Many people order table at the restaurant a year ahead for pre-Christmas “rakfisklag” because it’s so popular.
