I’m not sure that demographic data would really bear out that generalization.

I’m not speaking from “demographic data” only from my own personal first-hand experience functioning in this society among my colleagues. Enough said already—either your life experience and observations line up with mine, or you disagree and have not observed what I describe. Okay, fair enough.
