That seems to be the consensus even in the pre-internet age. If I need to defend my home, I do not want to rely on my marksmanship.The sight of my, in Cajun parlance, “twice bawrrel auromatic shoot gun” should deter the bad guys.

However, just to further complicate things, Mas Ayoob (handgun defense expert) makes a good case for HANDGUN as your primary home defense weapon. Saw it in a gun mag recently, not sure which one.
