re: #60 Anymouse
When I was stationed in Rota, Spain, the base Girl Scout troop would have their cookies delivered by Navy C-130 aircraft to the base. (Iām not sure whether the Girl Scouts had to pay for that or whether the Navy offered it as a morale thing.)
There were always scores of volunteers to unload the aircraft to get the cookies to the Girl Scouts.
The cookies were also very popular out in town; Spanish nationals bought them by the planeload.
Hope they got to dead-head them in. Our boyscouts in Korea got Christmas trees from somewhere, looked like they were dragged behind a tramp steamer.
Once flew from Aviano to Thessaloniki on a C-130. The only things on the milk run were me and a pallet of toilet paper. The guys at the artillery detachment were much happier to see the toilet paper.
