Tannahill called the tragedy “heartbreaking,” but says he will not stop the giveaway, the Kansas City Star reports.

“No individual is for school shootings. It’s heartbreaking … being a parent, our thoughts on that, for me personally, I am a strong believer in the Second Amendment,” Tannahill told the outlet. “I think we need to have a discussion of what can be done, and throwing out comments of displeasure isn’t going to solve it.”

Tannahill says the AR-15 campaign was an effort to support the Second Amendment and the contest had been in the works for a month to coincide with the Kansas Republican Convention this weekend.
