I don’t like our townhouse as a place to work. I lobbied to get to go to my office for a year, but was turned down.

I remember that John Cheever dressed in a suit and tie everyday, got his lunch, then walked out the front door around to the basement door that led to his office, and once there took off his suit and wrote in his underwear. Or at least that’s what I remember from a college English lit class. I bring that up because I did not do enough to create a “work” home as distinct from a home that is mostly separate from work (it’s not; I’ve always done a lot of work at home at night; but that’s different when you don’t have an escape route).

When the pandemic started, I offered to take a slicer and a scale and sell Boar’s Head from home.
