re: #608 ggt

Caring for the Baby Boomers is getting really, really expensive for individual families —in time and stress …

I think this has always been done by good neighbors. The problem is that we don’t know our neighbors like we used to. We move around a lot with few spending their lives in the same town. We live in paranoia - or maybe just “convenience” - opening our garage doors remotely to get in the house without ever going outside to engage with our neighbors.

Since I moved into an RV park from my house of 20 years where I knew my neighbors only well enough to wave at them a couple of times a year, I have really experienced this difference. I now go out and walk my dogs every day and talk to folks. When I got sick a few months ago and was flat on my back for 2 months after 3 weeks in the hospital, my neighbors were amazing. They took shifts walking my dogs several times a day, they fetched my groceries and did my laundry. I had a constant stream of visitors just stopping in to make sure I was OK.

I dunno where I’m going with this exactly but I know I’m onto something.
