re: #561 freetoken

Indeed. That people would post pictures of a group of people in which the claim is made that the people are representative of America, and in those pictures the ratio of the African-American individuals is about .3%, (when in the American population the overall black population is about 13%), and then claim that there is not a problem… is a testament to some strong self-delusion going on.

There’s more to this comment than you intended, I think.

There are many examples of this kind of disparity, and I don’t think it is mainly politically based. We do actually have different cultural groups in this country, and they behave differently for different reasons, independent of how they vote.

Recently there was a thread here about attendance of black Americans at state parks for example. I suspect the same might be said about other groups, even while I think the explanation given by a parks services employee at the time was bull.

I could give the example that by far the majority of Department of Children and Families cases are white. Does anyone conclude that this means black children are overall treated better than white ones, or could it have something to do with how neighbors report abuse?

The point is, cultural groups act differently and sometimes that coincides with what we call race. Unfortunately anyone who points out anything that indicates difference is prone to be called racist, and no doubt I would if I posted this on Daily Kos.
