re: #598 Obdicut

1. Did you ever see Clint Eastwood’s Gran Torino? It was chock full of Hmong, and no one can say ‘get off my lawn’ like The Man Himself. Their difficulties with assimilation was a major theme; some old school arse kickin was another major theme.

2. In a few places I’ve lived, “diversity” to certain local black politicians means a room full of black employees with patronage jobs who all think alike. When a friend of mine at UT Austin was in school ages ago, the student senate diversity committee got in some trouble for either kicking out or not allowing Chinese members. It was something about their proportional representation meaning the 100 Native Americans get a seat but the 10,000 Asians get nothin. Only black or hispanic activist busybody types were “diverse”. If the use of the term is hypocritical or a farce with some regularity, I still have my shenanigans stick out from St Patty’s Day.
