Like I said, Trump wasn’t misled, he’s the one who ordered Flynn to stay in contact with Russia and communicate assurances. That’s why Pence is going to be the one Trump blames most, even though it’s irrational. Pence was intentionally kept in the dark and had no idea he was being lied to. If he he had half a clue he probably wouldn’t have been so fervent in his denials and might have been a bit more circumspect in repeating Flynn’s initial version of events. In Trump’s mind therefore it’s going to be Pence who’s at fault for being too stupid to know he was being lied to and not deflecting the queries with suitably nebulous answers. Trump doesn’t understand that Pence isn’t like Conway, Miller, Spicer or his other amoral creatures who he can order to go out and lie with impunity because they never had any pretenses of integrity. So now he’s been forced into protecting Pence’s honor and it has cost him face, something he’ll never forgive him for.
