I can’t believe that the White House won’t respond to this, so the question is whether or not they’re going to be stupid enough to attack Comey himself.

Is it possible that Comey had bought into the conventional wisdom that Hillary was going to win and figured that he could protect himself with the statements he made before the election, figuring that no harm would come to this country by his violation of the Hatch Act?
