Is there someone here with the skill to evaluate the claims made in this thread? Do all computers suffer from a serious security flaw that leaves them vulnerable to a serious (or not so serious) hacker?

It’s looking like it is, in fact, very plausible. I’m not a hard-core hardware designer, but the concepts described in the article are known to me, and if it is correct that hackers have managed to exploit the hardware mechanism that is outlined, then… unfortunately, yes.
