By June, 1944 the die had been cast; the Soviet Union was going to defeat Germany. But if D-Day had failed, it could’ve resulted in a postwar world in which the entire continent went Communist, possibly leaving the US isolated in a socialist world. So we owe those heroes of June 6 an enormous debt of gratitude for the sacrifice they made for us.

Yep, and Operation Bagration kicked off on June 23 and pretty much wrecked the Germans on the Eastern Front.
