I was talking to one of my coworkers this morning about the IG firings. His response was that he didnāt think that any president could really be controlled. Itās not Democrats that have given up on their party, itās Republicans. And the only think keeping them voting for Republicans is they donāt want Democrats in charge.
But it does point out that one of the things we need to figure out how to do is to get Republican voters to actually hold their party accountable for its actions. Maybe something along the lines of āAt least my party listens to my concerns and doesnāt try to play to my fears.ā
It canāt be done. Authoritarians have shifted to the GOP. They like strongmen who are unaccountable.
