I heard something really stupid the other day from some wingnut. Simple phrase. It said, “Obama to LEGISLATE…” Something about gun control. Derp.

Obama can’t legislate a damned thing, he can only propose to and sign/veto what comes out of the legislature. And with both the “Hastert Rule” and the filibuster in effect, the GOP maintains a stranglehold on anything Obama could hope to accomplish.

If anything, this nation is in more danger of one-party rule through the GOP’s machinations to effectively rig elections at every level in their favor than any danger that Obama will declare himself Caesar.
