Sigh. I sometimes wonder what the hell people think.

I spent a weak doing security testing for computer systems and turn out a 20 page report going into the details, explaining how certain issues are covered by defense in depth, other issues are in the middle of being fixed and areas of real concern.

It gets condensed into 2 paragraphs by a manager who completely ignored the real issues and is setting up a team to invesigate non-issues while I get a pat on the back and another “priority job” to devote my full attention to. Vital importance and all that. I try and explain what the issues are they missed and was told the mitigation teams will cover it. Meanwhile, my buddy in the mitigation team tells me they’ve been directed not to take action on it

I get paid either way, but it pisses me off to be doing pointless work.
