The Dems began winning elections once Howard Dean shoved Code Pink and the other fringe elements that had attached themselves to his party into the nearest closet, and refused to let them grab the spotlight at Democrat-sponsored events. It’s true that the Dems sprouted more than a few loons over the last eight years - but it’s also true that, as long as the loons were in the forefront, the party itself lost election after election.

The GOP needs to take that lesson to heart, or get used to the same relegation to the wilderness.
