He might want to apologize for signing that POS law in the first place.

I’ve heard it suggested that by signing DOMA he took the wind out of the sails of a constitutional amendment to ban SSM. If that’s true then there might be a hint of an excuse for him. Otherwise he’s the last person who should be exulting over this, at least until he issues that apology.
