I’m not sure what you are talking about. Let me lay it out like this.

1) CRU has programs that create data about climate and temperature, program they have been using since the 1990’s.

2) Ian Harris takes over as the chief programmer in 2006, data modeler, IT guy and is tasked with creating a new version of the CRU Time Slice data base.

3) He tries to do it, finds that the programs that have been being used since the 90’s are faulty.

4) He spends until Dec. 2009 trying to fix the programs and create the CRU TS 3.0 data base.

5) He finally creates the database, starts sending it our, and even after that, scientist are noticing problems with the data.

Before Ian came along, the CRU was spitting out bad data in some form or another.

That was my contention and and Ian Harris’ notes prove that.

My point is rather simple, did the CRU data have any real impact on the the overall data even during the earlier period ? From all I’ve seen, the CRU data did not disagree with with the other data sets to any large degree.
