Ah. Quite familiar with Johnstown since three of my four aunts lived in/near it for quite a few years. One in Eastmont, one in Westmont, and one in Geistown. They were all originally from Portage.

My great aunt and uncle lived in Westmont actually. That’s where we would stay when I would go there with my mom and grandparents as a kid. I remember my grandparents telling me about the 1936 flood and how my great grandmother was pregnant with my great aunt when it happened. It’s amazing she made it out okay. The diversity of the Eastern Europe ethnicities is cool too since I love Eastern European food. The pierogis and kielbasa were much better up that way because they were homemade.
